Fatty Liver Disease, also known as hepatic steatosis, is a condition in which excess fat builds up in the liver cells. It is most commonly seen in individuals who are overweight, diabetic, or consume excessive alcohol. However, a growing number of patients develop non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is not related to alcohol use but is often linked to a high-calorie diet, sedentary habits, and metabolic disorders such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. If not addressed in time, fatty liver can progress to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, or even liver cancer in severe cases. This makes early screening and intervention extremely important, especially for high-risk individuals. Raising awareness about fatty liver is crucial, as millions remain undiagnosed until serious complications arise.
